Cultural Event
Ostia Antica
Saturday April 14th at 10am

Due to inclement weather conditions, this event has been moved to April 14th.
Our next event will be a guided visit (in English) to Ostia Antica.  Our guide will be Ferro Trabalzi the associations preferred guide who delighted us a few months ago when we visited the ghetto.
Mostly excavated in the late 1930’s in anticipation of a world-fair (Esposizione Universale Roma or EUR) planned to happen in1942, the port city of ancient Rome, remains today, the best opportunity to walk through a Roman city, besides Pompeii. During the tour we will briefly learn about its history, its planning, and its most important buildings together with their functions. Such an architectural journey will reveal aspects of everyday life in Ostia Antica that were the most important in order to gain a better understanding of  life during the early urban settlements. The archaeological park includes a museum with important ruins found on the site which we will visit.  There is also a well-organized rest area and a small gift shop.
Given the size of the area there will be a little bit of walking. Therefore, please wear comfortable shoes!
